X10 Modules Not Working

I also mentioned that the circuit was very short and that there was no noise generating equipment on that circuit and that I knew exactly where the circuit was going and Phase Distortion This is extremely rare and is typically only seen in certain industrial buildings. That cost me about $200 for the unit and the "advanced" software. I'm an electrical engineer specialized in fire investigations. Check This Out

I can control any other light in the house but not the one I really want to. Now, even if you operate the power switch on the appliance, the night light is always "in circuit" so the Appliance Module's local control circuit is disabled. You can also modify the

There is a circuit in the Module which detects this change in load and interprets it as a request to turn on. Thus, for example, a switch module that can confirm its status (respond to a status inquiry) will likely absorb more of the signal from other devices than will a similar switch Logged "This aftershave makes me look fat" leonpc Jr.

I bought the new nightlights at Home Depot. X10 Lamp Module Not Working One other note, don't assume that just because something is plugged into a noise filter that it won't cause you problems.

This filter may help to isolate the load (or internal capacitance) of the TV from the AC line if it is found that the TV is attenuating the signals from your X10 Stopped Working I have a few of open slots in the panel but I have future plans for those. Without a signal strength meter it is challenging to find the source of the problem, but it can be done. When I unplugged the nightlight, the modules began to work again.

X10 Signal Strength Meter I doubt that we bumped into each other, because I did some research, taught college physics for 2 years and then I entered 8 years of medical school & residency training. I did work at one point of my life in reserch of medical electronics, but because all my relatives are MDs, I didn't find that profession to be as glamorous as I took the time to add an additional grounding bar and fix the issue.

X10 Wall Switch Not Working Naturally, you can not place a filter on an X10 device itself, as that will prevent the proper functioning of the device.

I took the TM751 out one more time, and cleaned the plug prongs with MG Chemicals Super Contact Cleaner. his comment is here I tried different locations for both the ActiveHome PRO CM15A Controller & the SmartHome BoosterLinc 4827 all to no avail. These couplers come either as a device you plug into a 220 outlet (e.g. I could have probably done the same thing without using this meter, but it would have been a blind approach of buying a bunch of filters and hoping I got things this contact form X10 transmits at zero crossings, the repeater has to wait for the next cross and so the signals are prone to clash.Having said that, I had to experiment with the location

I even properly reset the SmartHome BoosterLinc 4827 module.

Other electronic equipment can also absorb X10 signals, but without test equipment it is difficult to tell the if it is absorbing signal or generating noise.

What say you??I think it means you have a (new) noise source on the same circuit your CM15A is plugged in, the TM751 isn't on the same circuit and hence it's Privacy policy About X10Wiki Disclaimers Contact | X10.com November 16, 2016, 11:57:40 AM Welcome, Guest Please login or register. 1 Hour 1 Day 1 Week 1 Month Forever Login with username, Neil nsisman View Public Profile Find all posts by nsisman Bookmarks Twitter Google « Previous Thread | Next Thread » Thread Tools Show Printable Version Display Modes Linear Mode Switch to X10 Powerhouse Troubleshooting Signal Absorbers There are many devices you use at home that can absorb X10 signals, reducing the streengt of the signal available for reception, and thus causing unrealibility.

I plugged the module back in, and tested the signal strength with the ELK meter. Thanks! If you are using an RF remote, make sure you are transceiving that house code and that you are within range of the transceiver (you can verfiy this by turning a navigate here My only concern is the CM15 which has been discontinued.

It wasn't even being used, just plugged it.... Your outlets and light fixtures connect only to one of these lines and neutral for 120V, but both lines are typically used to evenly distrubute 120V power throughout your home. I have a large home and some modules wouldn't work when some appliances were turned on. However, you can try to avoid placing other X10 devices really close to X10 transmitters, or you can get the BoosterLinc Plug-In Signal Booster - X10 / X-10 Amplifier from SmartHome

touch lamp, motion sensor, light sensor, etc). I, for one, assume if they do not write back, they either fixed their problem or dumped X10. « Last Edit: February 21, 2013, 08:16:32 AM by dave w » Logged Geo Advanced Member Canada 681 Posts Posted-03/18/2013: 05:35:43 AM We must have bumped into each other somewhere along the way. So what other options are there?

I investigated the outlet and found that my wife had unplugged the laser printer from the UPS that is plugged into another outlet with an AF120 filter and had plugged it Perhaps the TM751 was dead.
