If the decoder off message is accompanied by a loss in picture and/or sound, we would suggest double checking all your connecting cables between the source component and receiver. Sounds to me like you are just complaining for the sake of complaining. For example, if your DVD player sends a Dolby Digital signal to the receiver the receiver will see that and automatically activate the Dolby Digital decoder. Less than a year. It can mean one of two things - a two channel source is input or there is no input.

Had that problem when I first setup the unit, till I found that solution. Lately i've been trying to get my receiver to output 5.1 mixes to 7.1 using PLX IIx. Originally I had no optical cable and got 5.1 Surround Sound on everything except the LG's native Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming apps. Maybe, possibly that was changed.Did somebody turn on DRC?Did somebody play with the volume trim?Did somebody turn on audio delay?

Otherwise, if you love having a hump around 80hz by having both the sub and fronts doing the lower frequencies.
